Pretty Boy Floyd’s Hideout, a home at 6612 Edgevale in Armor Hills, was the home of Vivian Mathias,
gangster Verne Miller’s girlfriend. It was where in June 1933, Miller and Charles “Pretty Boy” Floyd
planned their unsuccessful prison break for buddy Frank “Jelly” Nash who, along with two policemen,
was shot to death during the attempt. Afterward, the men returned to the house where one of their men
died in the attic. For a while, strange things were reported there, including noises from the attic, doors that
wouldn’t stay shut (including the attic door) and attic lights that kept coming on.
