The History of Cars

Here is a link to an interesting series from the FT on past 100 years of car manufacturing, discussing the impact of various cars on the marketplace, what the future holds, and how cars have changed America. Considering that our current issues with oil are going to require drastic changes to the cars we use, and/or significant changes to how we look at cars, looking back at how cars have shaped our nation is a good idea. Cars are so interwoven into the fabric of how this nation functions that we have to confront some structural issues related to our cities, lifestyles, etc, before we can make any changes. Whether that means adopting public transit, riding bikes, electric vehicles with much shorter range, etc, etc.

No matter what happens, the future of automobiles in America is going to be very interesting.
